We bought this as a Christmas present for our six year-old. The controls are simple, and with the USB feature and a cheap 2 GB flash drive, I can load loads of story CDs into it and change them when she gets bored for another batch.
The only issue I had was with the order that tracks play on the USB drive - after a lot of experimentation and frustration, it turns out that it plays them in the order they were copied onto the drive - simple once you know!
Fantastic little unit - and no problems with skipping CDs like the previous reviewer. |

| I bought this for my (81 year old) father who is a Bluegrass music fan. We opened the package and I connected a USB stick I had pre-loaded with around 150 songs. After some quick instruction, dad was an MP3 pro. The sound is clear and plenty loud. The controls are easy to use (the text near each button is pretty small but easy to operate once you get the hang of it). This is the second Coby MP3 player we have owned (the first was re-gifted to one of the grandkids on a whim). Works great, playback is clean, ultra compact and feature rich for the price. |

Finally a portable radio that's designed for the 21st century. I wanted a small portable device for my mom that had an cd/mp3 player so she could listen to music uninterrupted. As an added bonus this has a USB port that will play your flash drives as well. Don't expect a lot of punch from the speakers after all what you pay for is exactly what you get, this is a great boom box for small rooms or just having some nice background music when company is over. I wish more company's would get on the cd/mp3 bandwagon. They all say, will play cd/cdr but if it doesn't say mp3, it won't play your cd/mp3's. Thank you Coby for stepping up and delivering.

I was looking for a CD player that would play MP3 CDs as well as MP3s from USB thumbdrives. I searched in store at Target, Best Buy, and Radio Shack; as well as a dozen online retailers. This was the best unit I found. So I bought it.
Pros: It has performed very well for me. I have traveled with it three times, and found it to be very portable. I have played MP3 discs and MP3s from a thumbdrive, both work perfectly. It even picks up the radio pretty well most of the time. To listen to a disc or thumbdrive, you just insert the disc or plug in the drive, then turn it on... it starts playing right away. The appearance is even nice. The flip-up handle makes it easy to carry. The antenna almost completely disappears inside the unit.
Cons: The tuner is analog, I would prefer digital. While traveling, the speaker grills dented to easily. The user interface is NOTHING like an ipod or similar device - no large display or scroll-through song lists.
I'm very happy with this player. Would by it again in a heartbeat. |
